Swimsuit Myths De-Bunked! Make a Splash Now

Sometimes inaccurate ‘facts’ get tossed around so much that they are hardly ever disputed. So here’s to clear the air on some of the most common swimsuits or swimwear myths. Take a look below and see if you’ve been misinformed after all these years around the pool.

The Myth:

“One-pieces look great on people with curves, but I don’t have curves and just end up looking like a kid.”

Reality:

Pick out one-pieces that have cut-outs

and deep necklines, which can give you some added curves!

The Myth:

“I am a small-busted woman and need padding for an extra boost.”

Reality:

Smaller-chested women can wear deep necklines and bustier tops that would look risqué on other body types. Embrace what you’ve got!

The Myth:

” I’m self-conscious about my stomach so I want to hide it by wearing a one-piece. One-pieces hide everything.”

Reality:

This can work sometimes with the right one piece. A one-piece that has shirring in the stomach, a busy print, or draping can work. If you’re concerned that you don’t appear to have a waist, you can go the one-piece route by opting for one that has a contrasting top half and bottom half.

The Myth:

“A classic midrise bikini is most flattering for plus sizes.”

Reality:

Bikini bottoms with side strings are your friend. You can easily adjust these to avoid unsightly lumps and bumps.

The Myth:

“Black is the most slimming color option.”

Reality

Any other colour is just as complimentary. Make your swimsuit unexpected that actually looks better than black.
